Privacy Policy

Golf Weather Intelligence (“GWI”, “we”, “us”) runs golfweatheriq.com, a free site with golf weather forecasts, tee-time listings, Dallas–Fort Worth golf events, and golf deals. This policy explains what information is used when you visit, and the choices you have.

The short version

• You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name, email or payment details.
• We don't sell your personal information.
• Some links to stores are affiliate links, and the site may show ads. The companies behind these may use cookies, as described below.

Information you choose to share

• Your location (only if you allow it). When you use a “near me” feature, your browser asks for permission first. Your location is used in your browser to find nearby courses and weather, and is sent only to the weather and tee-time services needed to get those results. We don't store it.
• Searches. The course, city or ZIP code you type is sent to the services that look up weather, locations and tee times.
• If you email us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply.
• Golf Deals price alerts (optional). If you set a price alert, we store your email address, the product and your target price. We first email you a link to confirm; nothing else is sent unless you confirm. After that we only email you when that product reaches your target price. Every alert email has a link to cancel it, which deletes the alert. Unconfirmed alerts are deleted after 3 days. We never sell or share your email address, and we don't use it for anything else.

Information saved on your device

The site stores a few preferences in your browser's local storage, such as recent searches and saved courses, so they're there next time. This stays on your device; we can't see it. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and the services that load on our pages receive standard technical information when your browser connects to them. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested and the time of the request. It's used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix problems.

Services we use

• Cloudflare hosts the site and our tee-time service.
• Open-Meteo provides weather forecasts and place lookups.
• OpenStreetMap provides map images and address lookups.
• GitHub Pages hosts the daily-updated events, deals and odds data the site reads.
• Google Fonts and unpkg deliver fonts and the map software.
• Google Maps Platform provides the star ratings shown for courses (looked up by our server, not your browser).
• Resend sends price-alert emails if you set an alert.
• Golf course and booking websites. When you click a tee time, event or deal, you go to another website, which has its own privacy policy.

Affiliate links

Some links to stores, especially on the Golf Deals and New Gear pages, are affiliate links through CJ Affiliate, the eBay Partner Network and the Amazon Associates Program. If you click one and buy something, the store may pay us a small commission, at no extra cost to you. To track this, these networks and the store may set cookies or use similar technology when you click. Commissions never affect which deals we list; deals are chosen on price, demand and store reputation.

Advertising

We may show ads served by Google AdSense.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
• Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.

Your choices

• You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. The site still works, though saved preferences will be lost.
• You can deny or turn off location access at any time; you can always search by city or ZIP instead.
• Depending on where you live (for example, California and other US states), you may have rights to request access to or deletion of personal information, or to opt out of targeted advertising. Because we don't keep accounts or personal profiles, we generally hold no personal information about you; contact us and we'll help with any request.

Children

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date at the top.
